Mary Walz was born and raised on the west coast of British Columbia. She’s been writing stories since she was a child, and wrote her first novel length story at sixteen (spoiler: it wasn’t very good). She’s participated in several writing communities over the years, and has won a few prizes for her short stories. When she is not writing, she can be found tending her garden, feeding the neighbourhood crows, baking delicious goodies, or running around in the woods dressed as a fairy or a wizard. She lives in Sidney, BC, a sleepy seaside town with one main street and about a dozen bookstores, with her husband Dave and her plant babies.
